EDWE Emden Airfield
MSFS 2020
Product information “Aviation-Sim-Design – Emden”
Emden Airfield is located in northern Germany, not far from the East Frisian Islands. The airfield is used by many helicopter operators for offshore missions in the North Sea. As the offshore wind sector in the North Sea plays an important role for our future, we decided to recreate the airfield as realistically as possible.
The airfield covers all the needs of virtual pilots: from helicopter pilots who can transport workers to offshore wind farms at sea, to private pilots who can enjoy sightseeing flights over the East Frisian Islands, as well as business or supply flights to the islands.
Approximately 15 km west of the airfield, directly at the mouth of the River Ems, is the winch tower. This tower is used by helicopter crews for winch training operations, practicing the lowering of workers onto offshore wind turbines at sea.
