EDWS Norden-Norddeich Airfield
MSFS 2020
Product information “Aviation-Sim-Design – Norden-Norddeich”
The special airfield Norden-Norddeich, with the ICAO code EDWS, is located at the northernmost mainland tip of the Aurich district. Norden-Norddeich provides an important connection to the East Frisian Islands and is home to the company HTM, which is responsible for transporting mechanics and supplying materials for offshore wind farms such as Alpha Ventus. In addition, in the future the air rescue organization NHC Northern Helicopter will operate from Norden-Norddeich, picking up injured mechanics from the wind farms and transporting them to nearby hospitals on the mainland.
The airfield is operated by FLN FRISIA “Inselflieger,” which uses several Britten-Norman BN-2 Islander aircraft to transport tourists and island workers on scheduled services to the East Frisian Islands and, during the summer months, to Helgoland. The airfield features a 720 m long and 20 m wide asphalt runway, which unusually has a north–south orientation and therefore often presents spectacular landing challenges due to crosswinds.
