Grenchen Airport - LSZG

Grenchen Airport (LSZG) is located at the southern foot of the Jura Mountains in the heart of the Swiss Plateau and is one of the most important regional airports in Switzerland. Nestled between the Jura hills and the Alpine panorama, the airport offers not only scenic approach and departure points, but also a diverse flying environment.

Grenchen is a vibrant hub for general aviation, gliding, powered flight, helicopter operations, and business aviation. Several runways with varying surfaces, spacious aprons, and a well-developed infrastructure including hangars, maintenance facilities, flight schools, and a popular airport restaurant characterize daily operations. The airfield is particularly renowned for its active gliding community and the thermal conditions in the Jura Mountains, which attract pilots from across the region.

Grenchen Airport for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024

As part of my current development project, Grenchen Airport (LSZG) is being created as a detailed and realistic implementation for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. The aim of this project is to authentically integrate one of Switzerland's most important regional airports into the virtual flight simulation world, focusing on both visual quality and technical precision.

Current state of development

A major milestone in the project has already been reached: The airport is now fully equipped with a drone-based ground layer. This ensures a realistic representation of taxiways, aprons, and other paved areas, forming the basis for a credible overall picture from the pilot's perspective – both on the ground and in the air.

In addition, two hangar buildings have already been modeled, housing a large number of private and business jets.
